The light does most of the work. A neon sign burns out of focus at the right edge of the frame, close enough to wash the wall and her skin in peach and orange, and far enough that the lettering cannot be read. That is the visual grammar of a bedroom at night, and it does the job a studio backdrop would do in a produced scene: it sets a mood without explaining anything. The pose is equally casual.
